Al Cocchi/Rock Party Radio

Monday-Friday 7 PM - 11 PM

Rock Party Radio is a strong playlist, which features songs from the 1960s through the present. “The whole thing is a mix of everything. All good songs that people can listen to. And it varies from song to song.”

Al Cocchi studied radio at Seton Hall University, starting out in the mid-1970s with WSOU radio, the on-campus radio station. “The highest power radio station in college radio – 2000 watts! I said, ‘Okay, this is for me,’ and I introduced myself to people, got involved and helped out wherever I could, and got really interested in radio.” Upon graduation, he started at WAVP Cableradio in Bloomfield and also ran his own record shop in that same town for a few years while Video Spotlight, a cable television show which lasted 14 years and featured the best in music, especially heavy metal performers. “People want me to bring that back,” he says regarding Video Spotlight, “because I met Madonna, Paul McCartney, and other stars. It was fabulous. One week we actually did a broadcast live from the Meadowlands parking lot here in New Jersey, and then the Scorpions, the Heavy Metal rock band, they loved us. Anytime they were doing a new album or video, they said, ‘Let’s get on Video Spotlight to promote it. Those guys are awesome!’”

Cocchi also worked for Cousin Brucie’s WRAN radio station in Dover (“That was a blast,” he says), followed by Clear Channel Radio (which became iHeart Media) in 2004, but prior to that he created his first radio station. “My first station that I created was CyberStorm radio back in 2002, and it’s still running, and I just started this new radio station now. So, I’ve got two radio stations, and I’m also on about 10 other radio stations across the country with what we call these days, voice tracking.”

Retro Rock Rewind

Evening Show Host Saturday

Rhett started his broadcast career in Jackson Tennessee at WKBJ AM (Milan, TN) as a board op on Saturday mornings, and engineer for Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 on Sundays. Within 2 months he was “Promoted” to overnights on the am jams sister FM station “The Nu 92 FM” (WYNU). He moved back to Memphis keeping his overnight gig and picked up Weekend overnights at Rock 103 (WZXR). HE considers his first “Big Time” gig in the Biz to be the first job that made him move in order to accept, which was  99.5 KRIX Brownsville TX. He also began working in the Rio Grande Valleys high-energy dance Station (KRGV/KRGE) as the “Z-Man”.

When he moved to the Monterey Bay Area in California he was again in the right place at the right time, because the local classical radio station flipped from KBACH (KBOQ) to K-ROCK 103.9 (KRQC), where he landed his first F/T Morning Drive shift and kept it while commuting to the University of the Pacific in Stockton. It was at UOP he met Darren McGavin, Ralph Guild, and Jon Crabbe (all UOP Alums), as they recognized his commercial broadcasting experience as well as a natural real-world business style, they handed him the task of building a new campus radio station of, by, and for the students. He built KPAC – “The Runaway Radio Station” which is currently known as “The Roar of the Pacific“ and the next semester he created KPAC-TV as well.

Rhett was the epitome of a “Road Warrior” as he literally travelled around the world (over 7 times mileage wise) while working in the High-Tech industry in Silicon Valley since the dawn of the 21st century. Fast forward to January 2020…… He constructed and launched KRIR-db  “RetroRock Internet Radio”. A web music entertainment network with 11 different Formats & 7 Globally Syndicated shows that run throughout the week on a 24/7  broadcast schedule.

Johnny J

Johnny J has been the host of The BIG ROCK since its beginning in 2016.

A true fan of real rock music. He began recording songs off the radio at a young age. Since the purchase of his first cassette, Billy Joel's "Glass Houses", he has collected thousands of records, cassettes, CD's & mp3's over the years.

Born, raised and lives in Erie, Pennsylvania. Johnny is married, has three kids and two dogs. He is a huge hockey and baseball fan. You used to find him bothering his family & neighbors with his guitar or drums. Now you will probably find him on any of the local lakes or ponds fishing or just relaxing on his boat!

Johnny has been a DJ on WFSN and WWUC.

Favorite band:   Night Ranger

Least favorite band: Nirvana

Favorite songs:  Boston's "Foreplay/Longtime",  Whitesnake's "Still of the Night", anything by Night Ranger! (of course)

First  concert:     Quiet Riot (84)

Band most seen live:   Def Leppard seven times

Most memorable concerts:   Triumph ('86), David Lee Roth ('88) and Night Ranger ('19)

Bucket list concerts:   ACDC, Rick Springfield and Sammy Hagar

Johnny is not all rock though, as he is also a fan of 90s & early 2000s country music with Little Texas, Montgomery Gentry, Toby Keith and Garth Brooks topping his country favorites list.

Pariah Burke

Pariah Burke grew up banging his impressive head of hair to 80s and 90s hard rock, heavy metal, and hair band albums he played all the way through while wondering why even the coolest FM stations only ever played the singles. Living and playing in bands in Daytona Beach back when Bike Week was still awesome, Pariah developed a taste for Harleys and whiskey, and began DJing Bike Week events and mud wrestling. Later, somehow still in possession of his full hearing, Pariah embraced the ability of Internet radio to reach hard rock, heavy metal, and hair band fans all over the world. He started the Hard, Heavy & Hair with Pariah Burke syndicated radio show to bring to all those fans the biggest hits but even more so the non-single album tracks, the “deep cuts,” that make albums great but never get air play during regular radio rotation.
